AutoKnowz™ is a multiple sensor combustible gas detection system with central indication designed for both automotive and stationary applications.
The system is comprised of a read-out panel that can monitor up to four (4) remote sensors simultaneously.
Gas readings are indicated using bi-color light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that signal warning and alarm conditions. Additionally, a gas presence may be indicated via a mutable audio transducer. The panel also features an on-board relay that may be used to switch external circuits in the event of an alarm.
The sensing heads are autonomous units that are powered from the central read-out panel and communicate with the panel in real-time. Connections to the central panel are made using 4-conductor cable that can be up to 20 meters long.
The sensing heads employ metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) sensors offering rapid response times and excellent sensitivity. Sensors are available for hydrogen, methane and propane detection. The heads are individually factory-calibrated and feature active local temperature compensation between -40 and +85 degrees Celsius.
The system supports fail-safe modes to signal error conditions such as sensor failures, connection problems and over/under temperature operation.
The indicator LEDs are color-encoded to signal warning and alarm conditions. A green state indicates normal conditions. Warning (or trace) gas concentrations are signaled with a blinking red/green state. A full-scale alarm condition asserts a blinking red state, and activates the audio alarm and relay. Error conditions are signaled via a dedicated Error LED and an intermittent audio signal.
Multiple concentrations for warning and alarm levels are supported and are configured in the factory at order time. EG the warning level can be specified to be 20% LEL and the alarm level to be 50% LEL.
The system is DC-powered and may be operated from 12 to 42 volts. A four-sensor system consumes about one-and-a-half (1.5) watts of power.
Packaging options include face-mounted and dash-mounted versions.
AutoKnowz™ is presently undergoing Beta trials and four sensor evaluation systems are available for $518. These systems are being offered 'open-frame' (i.e. without enclosures).
